Netball Tournaments

The Beaconsfield Netball Club – the successor to the Pointe Claire Netball Club, which operated out of Valois Park Elementary School – played at the Beaconsfield Recreation Centre and was coached firstly by Dorothy Metcalfe, then Stephanie Canning, and later by Penny Scoble.  Sharon Bradwell was the last president and tournament director of the “Beacs” club, which was a member of the Quebec Amateur Netball Federation (www.netballquebec.ca) and held a netball tournament in support of the Sian Bradwell Fund in 1988.

The Beaconsfield Netball Club played host to 3 British netball teams:  in 1978, the British Universities Netball Team, led by England legend (and now Baroness) Sue Campbell, who was appointed as the Chair of England Netball in 2025, toured Montreal and played games against teams in the West Island and central Montreal.  In 1981, the I.M. Marsh University team visited the province and in 1985, the Beagles Touring Netball Team, led by another legendary England player, Irene Beagles, did likewise.
